Safe Driving

Vehicle Care

  • It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that the vehicle is maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s mileage/time scheduled as detailed in the owner’s manual. Failure to do so could result in damage to the vehicle and cancellation of warranty. In such cases, all liabilities lie with you or your organization.
  • Car Maintenance Request form should be filled carefully and please clearly mention if there is any specific problem/s with the vehicle.
  • Ensure vehicle’s pollution check is carried out at frequencies prescribed by the local transport authority.
  • Defects in the speedometer/odometer must be reported to SMAI within 24 hours of noticing the issue.
  • If any warning lamps are flashing (engine check/oil/charging/brakes) while driving, or remain on after starting the engine, call the SMAI Helpdesk immediately.

Be a Responsible Driver

  • Never drink and drive.
  • Always wear your seat belt and insist the passengers to do the same.
  • Always drive within the speed limit. Consequences of driving fast can be disastrous.
  • Do not use your mobile phone while driving.
  • Get sufficient sleep before driving.
  • Do not drive when tired as it can lead to drowsy driving, resulting in automobile crashes.
  • Undertake a weekly check of all fluid levels, coolant level, battery, electrolyte level, tyre pressures and treads.

Secure Your Vehicle

  • Always park in an authorized parking spot.
  • Always keep your vehicle locked and keys in safe place.
  • Ensure that your Anti – Burglar alarm (if installed) is activated.
  • Do not leave any valuables inside the car.
  • Do not hand over car keys to strangers.

Fuel Optimization

  • Avoid racing the engine at the time of start up as it consumes a lot of fuel at that moment.
  • Drive steadily. Sudden acceleration results in more fuel consumption.
  • Avoid rough road and gravel as far as possible.
  • Do not leave the car idling for a long time on signals.
  • Do not rest your foot on the clutch pedal or brake pedal, pressing it causes drag leading to more fuel consumption.
